Paying the price for fun ๐Ÿ˜’

I’m paying the price for fun this week ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

No, not in the monetary sense ๐Ÿ’ท, in the physical, I’m a chronically sick single mum and I can’t escape that, kind of way ๐Ÿ˜’ I’m spoonless, feel achey and fluey and I’m in lots and lots of pain ๐Ÿ‘Ž

But we had fun, and if we didn’t have fun we wouldn’t have wonderful memories to cherish ๐Ÿ’ญ

I might feel dreadful now, but I can look back and remember the faces of my boys and smile ๐Ÿ˜„. It really was a great weekend ๐Ÿ‘

I need this t-shirt in an adult size ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m hoping, with all I have, that my biologic infusion tomorrow gives me the kick I need…

But I have time to rest up now, and over the weekend ahead too, as my boys are out with their dad one day each this weekend, so will just have a small outing each with me on the other day ๐Ÿ‘

Plus next week I have some alternative therapies lined up too – reiki on Wednesday & reflexology on Friday ๐Ÿ˜‰

So with all that combined I’ll hopefully be ready for some fun again for our next busy weekend at the beginning if July…

Fun, rest, eat, sleep, fun, rest, eat, sleep and repeat ๐Ÿ‘

Spending my spoons wisely…

Being a chronically sick single mum, I have one priority… Not letting my disease affect my boys life too tremendously.

Yes they are my Carers, although we are in the process of getting more outside care from social services to take the pressure off. But even when the extra help is set-up, they will come home from school far too often to find me feeling dreadful, so they cook, take care of the household tasks and the pets, as well as helping me too!

So my biggest aim is to spend my spoons on giving them a fantastic time as often as I can ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

They have their bedrooms kitted out with lots of things to chill to – computer console, TV and PC, which they’ve gradually received over a few birthdays/Christmases ๐Ÿ˜‰. Both of them enjoy entertaining themselves in the evenings between and after caring jobs ๐Ÿ‘

Their friends are very welcome here, so they invite them often, since they don’t feel comfortable leaving the house often as they worry that I’m left alone without support.

Then we come to my favourite part, our weekends ๐Ÿ˜„. I endeavor to save my energy for having fun with my boys at the weekends and school holidays ๐Ÿ‘. And fun we certainly have!!!

From beach time…

To meals out…

Summer festivals…

To a sports and craft hotel…

Farm fun…

Or hanging out in the park…

Even visiting the market can be fun too…

And on my worst times, we can still have fun enjoying our garden, which I’ve filled with things to entertain them ๐Ÿ‘

A hot-tub (a luxury I received by collating all my gifts for my 40th birthday) – fun for them & pain relief for me…

Our fire-pit, which they adore ๐Ÿ’ž…

And our pets too…

Then there’s those in between times, when spoons are few, so I can handle an hour or so at somewhere close by. At these times we have fun in the local area.

From bowling & amusements…

To experiencing animals…

Or a simple walk in the woods…

My powerchair and specially adapted car gets us everywhere!

I might come home spoonless and feeling poorly and in pain, but it’s worth it to have these memories to look back on ๐Ÿ‘. And I can rest for the rest of the week, whilst they’re at school ๐Ÿ˜‰. My little cooks will keep us fed ๐Ÿด

Our little group is what my life is about ๐Ÿ˜‰

Spend your spoons wisely too ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘. Our children grow up so quickly, make those memories ๐Ÿ’ญ

And me??? I sit in my powerchair, with Rolo (my assistance dog) by my side, take lots of photos, and soak it all in ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Alternative Autoimmune…

My recent liver problems, due to the medications, have meant that I’ve been off my biologic for a while ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

Knowing that this would result in me feeling even more dreadful, and being stuck in bed again, I searched for alternative help…

Reflexology, was my first dabble in the alternative medicine line, and I was pleasantly surprised! I felt energized, less unwell & even a little less in pain too!!! I was hooked…

So I expanded my trials into alternative medicines too ๐Ÿ‘

I’ve started a blog highlighting my different dabbles over at

Do come along and check it out ๐Ÿ˜‰

My herbal medicines now far outweigh the chemical ones I take each day, and I’m pleased to report that they are helping ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I didn’t end up stuck in bed, despite my lack of biologic. And now that I’ve cautiously restarted the biologic, but on half my usual dose, I’ve continued with my herbal combination too.

Every little helps…

I’m now trialing other areas too; natural, organic food products such as organic veg & cheeses, pure honey, good oils & lots of herbs I’m growing. Plus I’m dabbling with essential oils now too ๐Ÿ‘

These ancient remedies, and eating cleanly, really are making a difference!

I don’t expect to get off my chemical Meds, nor get out of my powerchair, but if it helps me to feel that bit better, and give me a few spoons to enjoy an outing or two, then I’m delighted ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

Getting out and about, even if just for an hour or two, is so essential to my mental health! I can collapse, spoonless afterwards, but feel so very satisfied, because I’ve had fun ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Keeping happy ๐Ÿ˜„

Getting out, even for just an hour, is my best therapy of all, especially if the weather is good โ˜€๏ธ. But as a Spoonie, this has me feeling drained later in the day.

For me though, it’s worth it for my mental health! If I stay cooped up, I feel even worse!!!

My common outings are walks, well wheels, along the canal and through the wildflower meadow ๐ŸŒพ. It’s beautiful!

I often collect small stones & a few flowers whilst we’re out ๐Ÿ‘, to display around my home…

I also have a collection of little pebbles, which I place on my altar, with inspiring words written in them ๐Ÿ‘

A recent visit to a forest further afield expanded my nature decorations with pieces of bark & some acorns, which I plan to use to decorate my autumn door heart wreath ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love nature, and having these bits and pieces, reminds me of lovely days out with family and friends, or just simple wanders nearby.

I return, shattered but happy and relaxed ๐Ÿ‘. I’m lucky to have a powerchair that handles a little ‘off roading’ ๐Ÿ˜‰. It did recently end up with a rather bent front wheel, but it’s supplied by my local NHS, who thankfully repair it quickly ๐Ÿ˜„

Enjoy the sunshine โ˜€๏ธ and start your nature collection…
